underwoodblog started following Midi issue and diagnosis

I noticed another midi problem and I'm not able to open a support ticket. I'm on 3.83. Midi note on messages don't work reliable and only on MIDI channel 1. I like to control Bypass and the Looper with the note on messages. I know this can be done with CCs to but with notes it is easier on my sequencer. I've testet this with a Midi Tool on my computer too, to exclude problems with my sequencer. And I've testet it with two differnt HX One pedals. Midi Note C-0 (Midi Note On Message Decimal 12) switches bypass on and off. This works more or less reliable (less with my sequencer) when HX One listens on Midi Channel 1. When I switch to a other Midi Channel, like 12 and send the same note on channel 12, nothing happens. When I send the note on channel 1, while HX One is still on 12, it sometimes switches. This is also a big problem because all my gear is connected to the sequencer and so the pedal switches unintentionally when the notes are intended for other devices. Midi CC messages work without problems . Send from squencer or computer.

Who said a guitar as extreme as the BcRich Shredzilla can't sound like an acoustic? With this preset for Line 6 Helix Stadium, you can transform any electric guitar into a stunning acoustic guitar. It'll sound incredible in your mix or with your band. Four snapshots for every need, from strumming to fingerstyle, like in this video. Gear used : B.C. Hi, I am coming from Kemper - but already sold that after only a few days with the Helix Stadium floor. REALLY like it, alreday now... and so much more to come :) So many things are so much easier to do on the stadium and sound is great. What I am missing: In Kemper I had a one button posibility to turn "Cab off for monitor out" ("monitor out" is a specific output in Kemper) - in case I want to run the monitor via a real power amplifier and Cab (what I like for the feeling...). I cannot find that option in the stadium?!? In Kemper, this option was global for all presets - very convinient. What I did as workaround: 1) I put cab at last symbol in my chain. 2) before that Cab-block I make a split and run the split to another output (e.g. send) 3) repeat for EACH preset.... (some work, but okayish thanks to the great interafce) My questions to this approach: Line 6 advertised a new and bigger interaction between the amp and cab (impeadence, reactions and stuff I dont know much about) - do I kill that part of the simulation if I don't have the cab block directly after the Amp? ...and of course second question: is there a better way to get one output with and another one without cab simulation?
-
I received a direct reply from Celstion - they confirmed that I would get a drop in output, but a solid state amp won't be damaged by using an 8 ohm speaker. I'm hoping to get the speaker soon - if guitar sounds better through a 1 x 12" cab than my KRK's then I'll consider that a win! Nothing against the Cat speaker - it's just that it's ONE speaker, whereas all the goodies in Helix Native and Guitar Rig 7 come with their own (and I've started my York Audio IR collection). The Cat amps can be found in Helix (I notice that none of them are matched with the stock speaker) so it's not like I'm losing anything.

I just bought a Helix Stadium Floor and I have an Oedale that works perfectly with the volume block but does not work with the wha block. The position does not go below 70% and it activates with difficulty, turning off immediately. It is not a Line 6 expression pedal but on my PodGo and on the volume block of the Stadium it works, does this happen to anyone else?

No, I dom't think you're acting neurotic. Who am I ro justify here... Probably I am a little bit pedantic but such odditiers can steal my sleep for days. On top of your described actions I searched snd removed everrything with "Line 6" in its keys or values of the registry. I analyzed all setup logs and driver inf too. Also I set up two new vanilla systems... No chance!

FWIW... I'm a 58 yo "child", too. I got mine in 2021, IIRC. It took me a while to get my head around it, but it's worth it. Patience, and Jason Sadites videos got me there. I also found the Worship Tutorial Channel useful. I think it's more about understanding the initial setup and preferences for your circumstances that makes the difference. If you can, you need to set aside an afternoon from time to time and just mess about with it.

This isn't just with ribbon mic and it's only on certain amps. And it's a noticeable difference. Support was going to forward my ticket on to QA.

yea, this. im hoping for more updates because there is no stadium stomp or lt etc. I mean hopefully theyre working on such in the future but theres a whole lot of us who dont need high end bells and whistles and price tag of the stadium series. I jam with friends in my garage. I certainly dont need a playback engine or other live performance functionality. I just bought a new LT because I couldnt justify $1000 more for the newer 30 or so agora amps. I had the stomp xl for 5 years and only now got to the point that I needed more dsp. the best business move is what apple does, have products at every price point and support them all.

I had this problem however I did not perform a reset to default. Also, even when no sound was coming out the meters did register audio. Hopefully my next statement would come back to haunt me. So far I still have audio working fine. I first create a playlist then import the stems into the song I create within the playlist. I use individual stems @ 44.1 kHz exported from Reaper after importing and setting as mono individual tracks. Stadium converts the files into stereo and whatever the rate is it needs for me (which I do not know off hand). I did have to careful with flags. The first time I had a couple on top of each other and thought I was loosing my mind. jpd

ReverendLove, Thanks. I agree that it needs to be removed for now to follow what I did. I had to remove all the Line 6 apps, and I mean ALL Line 6 apps except Helix native and the Helix Native uninstaller. I even had to figure out which Helix HX Edit, POD, Monkey, and Line6Central apps & uninstaller(s) to remove first and then go through the tedious task of removing every annoying previous version of the multiple Line 6 uninstallers as well as all drivers related to Line 6. Though the uninstall process didn't say to reboot, I rebooted every time I uninstalled an app, driver, etc. That is a nervous habit from my R&D days. Once I finalized everything and ran the dism & sfc utilities three times, rebooting each timer, (did I say I'm neurotic?) I used the show hidden devices feature in Device Manager. I didn't have anything related to Line 6. I then installed the latest Stadium App and everything worked as I stated and showed in previous mentions and pictures in my replies within this thread. I do not have any unknown devices; no Helix Stadium Bulk Transfer. I do not plug in the USB-C device while using the Stadium App. The USB-C is separately used for DAW only. That is my findings so far. Hope your system will work as you need at some point. jpd

There currently is not an option to change this, although it would be possible for L6 do do this in a software revision. Somebody else asked the same question a while back and there was a reply that it cannot be done because the tap tempo button has red LEDs not multi-colored like the other buttons, however this is not true because I just noticed the other day that the LEDs change colors when the unit is playing a Showcase song, so it absolutely would be possible. I suggest submitting an enhancement request. I'm a bit OCD and I find the bright blinking tap tempo button to be distracting so I made a snap-on plastic cap with perforated holes to tone down the brightness a bit.

This worked for me: Disable Driver Signature Enforcement (Crucial for Windows 10/11): Go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery. Under Advanced startup, click Restart now. Select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart. Press 7 or F7 to select "Disable driver signature enforcement."

Same problem, posting here for another data point and to follow. On a few occasions now I've loaded ~10 songs, all single tracks, and they work perfectly. After powering down and upon reboot, they look as though they are playing but there is no audio. And the Matrix screen song meter does not show activity. This seems random, sometimes they do work following reboots. I have also done a number of various sequences of backing up, factory resetting, restoring from backup, reloading songs, etc. I've yet to find any repeatable pattern.

Dear Line 6 Team, I’m writing regarding the upcoming Expand D10 module for the Helix Stadium system. I currently use a Helix Stadium together with Variax guitars and am particularly keen to restore VDI integration for recording and studio work. At the moment I am on the waitlist with Andertons Music in the UK, where I have been advised that availability may not be until around Autumn 2026. Because the D10 is important for my recording workflow, I wanted to ask whether there is any possibility of obtaining one earlier than that timeframe, or if there are any early access, beta evaluation, or limited release options available. If it helps, I would be very happy to provide feedback from real-world studio use once the unit is available. Many thanks for any information you are able to share. Best regards, Mike

Often when electrolytics go bad, they physically expand in size. For example, the tops of them bulge upwards -- they become domed. So a bad one might not be difficult to spot.

Attaching an example of the dual path arrangement. The amp in the lower path is not active. I found an example for how to do this on YouTube. Posted by Fixer Pete: "HD500X as Guitar & Vocal Processor" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGKJdr6Zlvk For the most part, I copied his layout. I believe I modified my preset, "Big Hall", but not positive about the name.

I also received a response from Ben with Line 6: Yes, you can assign the inputs to either side of the signal path, e.g. input one goes to path A, input 2 to path B. You then pan the paths hard left/right and use the stereo outputs. See section 2-7 of the advanced guide. You will not have stereo put from the guitar or microphone in this setup. https://line6.com/legacy/podhdprox

Actually, that is a very common speaker impedance for MODELING amps. It's NOT common for straight-up guitar amps where speaker changes are common. The Catalyst was never intended to be an FRFR amp. It is what it is advertised as and if that suits your purpose, great. My recommendation is to buy an amp that's intended for your purpose. Blackstar has a new FRFR amp that has a whizzer. Check it out. Fender, Laney and IK Multimedia also have FRFR cabs. Of course, they all cost at least twice what the Catalyst costs and are closed back cabs. I wonder why that is? Hmmm.... Good Luck on your whizzer adventure!

I asked Line 6 for advice and got this: "Thanks for reaching out. This has not been vetted or tested by our engineers, so we can't comment on any modifications, I'm afraid. Swap speakers at your own risk. All the best, Hodgy Customer Support Team Yamaha Guitar Group" So, they sell amps with an uncommon speaker impedance that are designed to be a compromise. No frequency curves available. When purchasers wonder if they can get a bit more out of the amp and try an extremely common thing - changing speakers - the entire Tech Dept has never come across such a thing! The overwhelming results on the web for the change is "decreased output but harmless", so I'm going with that. One of the reasons for the change is I spent money on another Line 6 product (Helix Native) that has lots of wonderful cabs, includes the Cat amps, and lets me play with top tier IR's. If the speaker works as claimed, then I get the entire Catalyst collection plus everything else in the known guitar universe. More Is More (or MIM...)

Ribbon mics have a need for some space and the proximity effect is also used to control low frequency being overbearing, sometimes pulling the mic back a bit make a world of good difference

Slow reply - I didn't get a notification. I used to use poweramps into guitar speaker cabs, but it limited my pallette too much as the speaker has such a huge influence on tone. That aside, when I did I much preferred using the full amp model even though it includes the power amp section. Yes the preamp models are substantially quiter and need additional volume, but they also sounded thin to me. Irrispective of what you use, pre or full, you should be aiming for consistency in levels at the patch stage and then tuning the actual output to the out put device (eg line level PA vs instrument level amp head). I've always used a full Helix and/or LT so can't advise the easiest approach for that on a XL, but on the Helix I would use a gain block at the end of the patch, or the output level to adjust. If using different set-ups, copy the patch, adjust output levels and name for that output, or keel in a seperate user list.
